Description

We live in an increasingly complex world of information where journalists have to compete to have their work seen with millions of pieces of information being shared, published and broadcast daily. To stand out in the crowd, every journalist has to understand their audience so they can can create content that engages and interests them whatever the subject matter or the story they are trying to tell.

This Module will

Equip you to identify who is reading or watching your content and to understand how to  create content which will interest and engage them and  be able to make an informed judgement on prioritising which stories to cover and how to present them.

Encourage you to explore your own organisation’s audience and readers and consider whether your approach is the right one for them.

On completion you will

Understand that it is possible to engage an audience with any subject as long as you can identify how to attract their attention and create content that interests them.

Understand that it is not about only reporting on “popular” issues but being able to engage people and still maintain the basic tenets of good journalism by acting as a watchdog; protecting public interest against malpractice and creating awareness.

To work for any media organisation as you will be able to identify the audience/readership and produce content which engages them.
